Hashim Djojohadikusumo’s care for the conservation of wildlife through the Yayasan Arsari Djojohadikusomo (YAD) would be realized with the development of the Sumatran Tiger Rehabilitation Center at the palm oil plantation site of PT Tidar Kerinci Agung (TKA) in Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra Province.
To facilitate this endeavor, YAD will cooperate with the Aspinall Foundation, an internationally renown animal conservation charity headquartered in London, England.
The following are the results of YAD Team’s visit to the Aspinall Foundation office and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks owned by the Aspinall Foundation on 4 September 2015.
The meeting between Damian Aspinall and the YAD Team led by Hashim Djojohadikusomo has agreed to support each other in the rescue and protection of wildlife. Aspinall Foundation has pioneered the breeding programs of wildlife such as orangutans, rhinos and other endangered species, as well as their release into the wild on a regular basis. One success story from this Foundation is the successful release of the gorilla into the African jungle. In Indonesia Aspinall rescues and rehabilitates endemic primate species to the island of Java in the Patuha, Ciwidey, West Java.
The visit to Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks was intended to directly observe the activities of the rescue, rehabilitation and breeding of rare and endangered species, including the observation of its facilities and quality of physical infrastructures.
Port Lympne Wild Animal Park is divided into seven regions, namely Gatehouse, Basecamp, African Expe-rience, Discovery Zone, Carnivore Territory, Trail and Zoo Primate Trek.
The Aspinall Foundation, a British animal conservation charity was set up by John Aspinall in 1984. They are committed to the breeding, reintroduction and pro-tection of rare and endangered species. The Foundation which is now run by his son, Damian Aspinall, hopes everyone who visits Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks be encouraged to contribute to the conservation of wildlife.
